When our clients relocated to the area from out of state, they found a Colonial style house that they loved in Potomac, Maryland. However, the upper level of the home did not quite fit their needs. So, they hired us to reconfigure, renovate and add-on to their home.
The 500 square-foot addition over the garage allowed for a new art studio for the homeowner and a separate entrance at the back for her customers. The fabulous new space was designed to have a cathedral ceiling, dormer windows, skylights and a sliding door so that the studio would be flooded with natural sunlight. A brand new bathroom was tucked away in a corner of the studio, and a cozy nook was added for extra seating under a window. Special electrical wiring was installed to accommodate the artist’s kiln.
The existing bedrooms were reconfigured to become two larger rooms for the homeowners’ daughters. Each of the new bedrooms would have an ensuite bathroom and a walk-in closet. The room that was built as part of the new addition over the garage was designed to have a skylight, window seat and loft area.
