Earlier this year, a 1930’s bungalow-style home in the Kent neighborhood of Washington, DC suffered extensive damage in a fire. The owners decided to hire us, the team at Meridian Homes, to restore their home to its former beauty. Preserving the style of the home was critical to our new client, and Meridian Homes made sure this was top-of-mind as plans were developed to restore, update and modify the bungalow.
Meridian Homes helped navigate the homeowners through the process of dealing with insurance requirements after the fire. We renovated the 3-level home within the time and budget parameters that were set with our client. The extensive restoration encompassed virtually all areas of the home, and included replacing the entire roof. The well-planned renovation design allowed us to capture dormer space to enlarge the upstairs master bath and an adjacent closet. The kitchen was completely redesigned, modernized and enlarged to include stainless steel appliances, natural stone countertops and a glass tile backsplash. The cherished sunroom, which was extensively damaged, was completely rebuilt. The plumbing, HVAC and electrical systems were all updated. Cable and WiFi feeds were also installed, as was a natural gas generator to give the homeowners power in the event of an outage.
Out of the tragedy of a fire came an opportunity for this young family to live in a modernized version of their beloved home. Our Meridian Homes team was very happy to be able to help this family through the process of rebuilding.
